Time to write again

Can't sleep, Freud will eat me...Can't sleep, Freud will eat me...Can't sleep, Freud will eat me....Can't sleep, Freud will eat me...

Or something like that. The worst thing that's happened to me this quarter so far is my cost of text books. After going through the recipts of all my books, it tallied to $420 on texts alone. On materials for massage class, I think I spent...another $100 or so.

• Psychology: I'm hating my psych class, even though the prof is a great guy. The one problem he has; didn't let me finish copying the transparency. I've already figured out how to get around this: watch him for another week, see if this situation remains the same, then go talk to the dean of the psych department (or if he is the dean of the dept, go talk to the Dean of Education). Either way, I get to deal with htis by going over his head.


• Japanese: Teacher is recently immigrated from Japan, my guess is. She's got a heavy Japanese accent so thick it's almost worse than my auntie Guisla's (yes, I know I probably spelled her name wrong) German. She expects so little from us...so far. It's scary when I wake up in the morning from sleep, then go downstairs to greet mdlbear with Ohayoo gozaimasu, otahsan (good morning, father) before my first can of soda....


• Massage class: Not bad, but not good. Here's the good news: it meets 2 times a week. Here's the bad news:
  
  1. Dr. Foreman speaks 100wpm (words per minute) and doesn't slow down to let us take complete notes.
  
  
  2. He expects us to be knowledgable in what we are doing, though some of us are doing this for the first time.
  
  
  3. He expects me to have proper technique in draping, but I'm vertically challenged & have to adjust for these differences.
  
  
  4. We have to wear bathing suits for the labs, or sports bras with clasps and shorts.
  
  
• Astronamy class: Look for updates to this class, as we haven't gone into full swing yet. We will tomorrow, and I'll try to post then.

Before you go over his head, talk to him first.

If he continues to go fast, vocalize in class. "Please hold that slide please."

Going over his head right away, will just piss him off and make you look stupid to the deans when they find out you never talked to him.

Also, check to see whether the slides get posted on the Web. If they do, just browse there and print. If not, suggest that he post them.

I definitely agree with johno about talking to him first.

That's all I can remember. Grasshopper, have you tried looking for used books? I know that SFSU has a source for used books. I know that my college bookstore had a section for used books. I know I am dating myself.. Giggle. You can also check ahead of time for the syllabus. I was lucky... The professors used the same books over again; the only change would be when the book was updated.
