Damnit! Seems like you can't go anywhere in this country without having some type of college background, right? Well, getting into it is a fucking bitch! I don't give a damn if you call yourself the queen of devil's tower...I can't get into De Anza and it is pissing me off. Is going to college really worth the (late) registration and the eternal waiting lists? School starts on Monday of next week, and as far as I can tell, there's like...no classes open for latecommers. Just because I turned in the signature form late doesn't mean shit to me, just that I'm probably not going to make it this quarter.

I thought high school was bad. Now I find that College is like eternal damnation, where you have to take uber-classes just to make a living in this bizzare country. Nobody cares about your homework load or how many classes you take, just as long as you get it done, right? That's what I thought.....but there's a problem: what if all the classes you want to take are completly loaded and have a 20 person waiting list? I, personally don't think it's worth it.....but that's just me. [livejournal.com profile] mdlbear and [livejournal.com profile] flower_cat will so disagree with me.

Showing up to classes and trying to add them there is often worthwhile. A lot of people just don't show up.

Did you get registered?
You don't have to make it into a waiting list to get into a class. As long as you're registered, you can just show up and ask to be added. It depends on how many people have shown up.

Getting into class...

Especially at De Anza, you can show up on the first or second day and get an add slip, if the teacher is willing to teach you. (I've only seen =one= class that wasn't willing to, and that was a Java programming course that would otherwise have filled the room to 3 times its capacity.)

Especially in the PE section, you can pretty much waltz in.

I highly reccomend that if you are registered to add classes, you show up on the first day with class schedule and classes you want to get in to in hand... there are a handful or two of people who get dropped because they aren't at the first day of classes. (its the rule, even if you're registered, you MUST be at the first day of classes.)

So your chances are pretty good if you poke at the administration people.

Your Uncle Craig would show up at The American University too late to register. So He would go through the mill. Go to the class that he wanted with an add slip and sometimes with puppy dog eyes. giggle.
