Covid-19 S01.02: The New Cave
Mar. 30th, 2020 07:56 pmSo, the move is done. The old cave is done, we've surrendered the keys and are enjoying our new place. Like every new place, it will have its highlights. So far, biggest thing is no dishwasher. We are experiencing a bit of a snafu with an order on account of Stupid Covid Virus Thing.
A's job is going well, and everything is golden there. I'm thinking maybe making a few calls in the morning and try to get the ball rolling with some of the contacts I made in Auburn, and hope that they reach my new locale.
We have a nice kitchen. It's gorgeous. Tonight's dinner was home made hamburgers, corn bread, & pickle slices. I had a salad. (Technically, I had 2 salads today.) I hate vegetables, but this...this feels different. If creatures are, in fact, capable of evolution, this wolf eats salad. Get over it.
That's all for now.

Date: 2020-04-09 05:45 am (UTC)Heres the starter kit I have people go with:
Get a dedicated GMAIL address just for jobsearch.
Use GMAIL, not other mail providers.
Get a google Voice number and put THAT number on your resumes and use that number on job calls.
If the recruiters get your REAL number, your battery will always be dead and you will never get a nights sleep.
Get on Linked In.
Those 3 integrate together well.
Among other things, when I open G calendar and Im on an email it will help you imort that message into the calendar event you are creating.
Very helpful for interviews.
I use the Google Drive and its office apps for jobsearch, creating resumes, cover letters, canned reply messages.
Most of the online job boards are just web scraping each other.
I use:
Linked In
Monster
Dice
Careerbuilder
I gave up on the rest.
