 Long time no post.

Received the notice about accounts being hacked. Mine doesn't appear to be one of them.

Anyways. We're moving (again) from Auburn to Kent. If you got a social card from me at Conflikt, I'll need to get you the new address. It's on my list of things to do, but not right this second. Earlier this month (right after that first weekend) we got the locks changed by our landlord -- while we were still living here. Which was weird; there was a note on the door that said "come see us for your new keys". We did, and the following Monday they gave us a "we're terminating your lease" paper. So, the following Thursday when Rabbit had his day off, we went looking for a place. Spent all day finding one, and at the last place we looked at; we filled out the application and decided that was the one. I decided not to go to the LARP the following days (Friday thru Sun) because I was feeling kind of blah from a cough I must've picked up during the LARP in mid-Feb (mostly recovered from it now, it's just lingering and obnoxious.) Good thing I decided not to go -- the following morning, Friday (which would've been LARP day if I'd decided to go) the gal from our new complex called us and said she needed some info from our current landlords. I gave her the info she requested and waited while Rabbit was at work; and low and behold that afternoon she calls me back just as he gets home and says "Congrats. You're approved." So we went and got the 1/2 the deposit, I wrote a few letters and we did the things to start packing for the move. We managed it. Got the funds together for the rest of the deposit, made the deposit, signed the lease, got the rent sorted and are working on our next kitchen setup. It's still a bit off-putting that we have to set it up in phases.

We even managed a stop off at Ikea to go looking at some stuff before everything got closed up because of C-19 virus shenanigans. Didn't spend anything, which is an accomplishment -- we just looked. I found an adorable plushie combo of a wolf and a rabbit. Once we can get into the store again, these will be coming home with us.

So, like my father, I'm an introvert. I like being social, but in small doses. This social distancing nonsense is precisely that. I've been entertaining myself with twitch streams by some of my favorite gamers and Aja's when he's able to -- he's recovering from bi-lateral knee surgery and is funny on good drugs. I considered the possibility of hosting a virtual housewarming shindig via zoom or something just to have that social interaction. Another friend of mine mentioned she attended a virtual bardic via zoom, so that might be something to look into as well.

So what have I been up to other than this? Well, for one thing, I graduated from CWU with a BAS in Information Technology & Administrative Management. I'm still job hunting, and will be looking into some remote employment opportunities once I get settled at the new place. I've been seeing a behavioral therapist and making regular appointments with a PCP for re-ups on my meds as needed. These have been immensely helpful, but alas I have to change clinics because of the moving thing. Hopefully it won't be that much of a hassle.

Recently got back into Filkhaven on discord, still writing with Starbase 118 on the off days, and will be back in packing tape for the forseeable future, either putting it on boxes or taking it off of them. Bleah.

I keep getting calls about gigs up in WA.
Tell me what you are looking for and what you think you could survive the interview on.
I will get the recruiters going on your behalf.

I havent heard from you in ages and need to get caught up on whats going on with you.
Auntie Jane dropped a few hints about chances to your life but I need clarification.
Jane, Andrew and Ross and I are all full time Dickens Fair folk, and I see Jane & Andrew at the Edwadian Ball each year.

That reminds me, did you know that Ross missed part of Dickens last year getting a triple bypass ?

Dunno if you follow me or not.
You are welcome to do so.

Ross was a regular at Starport, older guy, bad puns, beard that he split 2 directions at the bottom. Your parents should remember Ross.

So you are shooting for IT manager jobs? Any experience managing people?

COVID will make permanent changes in the workplace.

OPen seating was an experiment at Google that should have led to collaboration. It didnt. More people worked from home, or clamped thear earphones on tight. The rest of the indutry tried it because Google had done it. They found it didnt work either, with flue season clearing out the office. The accountants loved it because they could get more people into a smaller area. Open seating is now the rule. I miss my cube...

After Covid, remote will no longer be a perk but a way for companies to save money. By making jobs remote, they will be able to cut wages.

Yes, you will have an easier time finding remote work.

If you can certify that you have had and recovered from COVID, you are in demand because they dont have to worry about you getting sick.
