Resolutions for 2011: I'm not going to make any solid commitments, as I tend to break 'em.

Reviewing the last year: Don't really want to. I feel it sucked too much to review it in full.

Projects I'd like to finish:
- chain shirt
- car repairs (assuming job and funding happen, otherwise this won't)

And....that's all for now.

1342 -- EDIT: 2 phone calls/text messages within minutes of waking up asking if I was okay, since emergency vehicles were sighted outside my apartment complex. No idea what happened, and I said I was fine (since I wasn't here.) Quickly called room mate and landlord to confirm details, learned the following:

• It was in building 3 (a short distance from my complex)
• Medical examiner was involved
• Fire department, detectives, police department

I panicked. I had a group of friends in that building, and I was afraid it might be them. Asked T the landlord to deliver my contact info to my friends when she saw them.

When I got home, I asked an officer what specifically happened, learned the number of casualties, was asked for a statement, and told to keep my phone charged -- 5 of my 6 friends are dead, one is in critical care and I won't be hearing from her for at least a week. This is a lousy way to start the new year (article from google news)...

0103.0133 EDIT: Update on L: It's bad. I wasn't told how bad yet, but I don't think she'll make it. I was told she's in a medically induced coma, and that the burns she sustained (AFAIK) are all internal, so said the cop I spoke to. Slightly more detailed version of the story here with a bit more information. Still no word on cause that I know of. L the Roomie had to identify the father's body, and took it hard. 

I am trying to stay out of  any crossfire that breaks out between LtR and NtR (tR= the Roomies). May need a distraction of getting out of here and spending time somewhere else, even if it is just a few hours. I can bring DVDs or Magic cards.

I agree with you completely, Robin. It sucks. Horribly. I want a refund of this year.

Scorecard sucks too: Reaper: 5. Chaos: 0.

Anything I need: Lots of things, primary 2 being a job and income (or at least a slush fund so I can deal with the bills/rent.)

That you can help with: Not sure what fits into this category, but as soon as I think of something, I'll let you know.

I cried when I read the story...before I knew they were your friends. Such a terrible loss. I am so sorry dear little one. I will keep prayers for you and their family and friends continuing.

It looks bad for Lilly's survival, let's put it bluntly. My landlady went to see her today and said that it doesn't look good.

Any time someone says that it usually means we'll lose them within 24 hours. I'm not a pessimist by nature, but this is based on past experience.

Seriously, I need a job. Maybe work will help me take my mind off of all this crap.

I will light a candle for you to find work again SOON. I know how hard it is to lose someone and have no way to keep distracted, I just lost a dear friend, who meant a very lot to me, and I didn't even get to see him before he was taken by cancer.

According to reports from the landlady, she's doing a lot better in terms of being optimistic and hope of the future. Medically, I don't know anything.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It's a hard thing to learn early in life, and I hope the best for your still-surviving friend.
