Well, frack. For those of you who don't know, I got laid off last Friday. I filed this morning (via online) for unemployment. I am going to Shadow Accord this weekend in order to maintain some sanity in order to have the coherence or mindset to go job hunting at all on Monday. For those of you who remember, I started work on 02102010. Almost 3 months later (05072010) I got laid off.

I hate life. I really do. Thank you to [livejournal.com profile] ksharra and company for inviting me to the Den for relaxation and otherwise.

[livejournal.com profile] selkit: I am trying. I really am.

{{hugs}} I can understand the trying times.

I still want to do the chainmail with you dear...just need to figure out what I'm looking at now as design changed. Colors did not.

Oh, making it more complex...but at the same time, possibly a repeatable design for another project, that you could sell on a site I'm developing.

Look at it this way, now your resume has a work experience entry. Take what you learned at this job and apply it to getting the next one.

Hey, you. I have to be in Kirkland later today.... Redmond's not too far away. If you're up for lunchy things (my treat), let me know...

I was lucky. I was doing one crappy temp job after another, until I walked by a storefront with a sign that said "The Inventor Is In - You May Come In, Too" and started working for Jack Hawley.

Somewhere around there is a job (or several) that really needs you. What would it be like? Where would it be? Keep telling people you are looking for work; you never know who might know of a job.

Can relate. Got laid off a stretch back too. Thing to keep in mind is it isn't so much about you as it is your position in the company, otherwise they would've just fired you.

I was laid off because I was the most recent hire on the day shift. Had nothing to do with me. Were it not for a stipulation in contracts I might be back there, my former co·workers have kept trying to get me the job back and my customers miss me.

I was one of their fastest workers.

So, while it may be hard to accept now, know that you're being laid off says nothing bad about you. It's just unfortunate circumstance from the faceless folks at the head office.

Hmmmm, have you thought about doing security guard work? Yeah, I know they mainly want to hire old men, but you are young, alert and could do the work. The upside would be that you'd have very little contact with the public, the hours tend towards evenings and night - very little ever does go wrong - and places are frequently hiring. Good luck!

But at least you're in a state that has unemployment coverage. (Some don't.) Believe me, as one of the longterm unemployed, I feel for you.
