"Alas, poor Starport..."
Jan. 4th, 2010 03:50 pm"I have to leave, Horatio." --- Chaos.
Trip highlights:
Now it's over....*sigh* I didn't really want to go home to Redmond for a few reasons. Mostly because I'm not looking forward to the heap of chores to do when I get back. Oh well. Second is I'm still looking for work in a market that isn't cooperating with the job-hunters.
I got to the airport, am pleased to say that I did not get red-flagged through security for having 2 laptops with me in my carry-on luggage. Didn't have any problems checking the bags or getting my boarding pass. Had lunch @ a restaurant called the Brit, which was playing Beatles when I got in. Had a beer, had fish & chips, got told a good joke by the waiter, and a QOTD: see below.
Him: "Fish and chips, silverware, your beer, tartar sauce, malt vinegar...what're you missing?"
Me: "My good Canadian husband."
Him: "You're on your own, mate."
Me: *shrug*
All in all, it was a good visit. I have my wedding album so that I can share with
runnerwolf and company (huge thanks to
artbeco), have a few sci-fi books (Merlin's Descendants, The Kris Longknife Series, Mists of Avalon/Lady of Avalon, and the Excalibur anthology), have a few cook books (Diabetic ones for me and the roomie, since he's the diabetic), both laptops (for game testing @ my husband's insistance), digitized copies of most of my character sheets (for gaming w/ sibling, Justin or otherwise), a hard-drive full of music and a few movies (thanks to
screaming_angel. All in all, I had a damn good time.
Aside to
mdlbear: If you don't make it into my complex during your visit for
pocketnaomi's birthday, I'll see you @ ConFlikt, so I'm not worried about it. Don't forget more Barefoot when you do. *grin*
Trip highlights:
selkit's surprise visit. I should've guessed that the reason I got taken out to brunch was so that I wouldn't see him arrive, and I was so damn convinced that he was in Alberta visiting his dad & siblings. Walked passed him, stared at him a few times without realizing it and was blind to his presence due to the lack of lights, the population in the living room at the time, and the fact I was wearing sun glasses from just coming in from the blind outside.- Bohnhoff visitation: had a few songs going through my head, and the party was just awesome.
- KoC karaoke: big thanks to
silverstorm2013 and his lady for the night of gaming/KoC trips. I needed that. - Sibling being gone for a week. Came in really handy yesterday because that's the first time in 17 years I felt like an only child around my parents, and going out to dinner with them on their anniversary was a damn good present if ever I felt it.
- Sold the dice bag I was trying to list on my Etsy Store to
moshez: didn't expect to sell it but was pleasantly surprised when I did. - Getting my parachute (What Color Is your Parachute? 2010 Edition. Again, thank you
