Well, here's a little R(andom)& R(anting) about my life.

1) College. Scary thing that. De Anza is a scary place. It's big. I mean...Mom said college was big & scary. I didn't realize it was Lincoln (my high school) sized x10.

2) Classes. Didn't seem all that bad. Went to check my placement test results, and it didn't show the score for my English test. That was just plain scary, but I'm going in on Monday to try and deal with it.

3) Tomorrow's FC meet. People like [livejournal.com profile] chipuni and myself and a few other fursons that I work with will be showing up, presumably to discuss the convention in January. Big planning session. Not as big as the Saturday before the con, on Jan 17, but still a big plan session.

4) Laptops. Windows is good to a point. I love it for a few things: games, Trillian, and word processors. I hate it for a couple of reasons: 1) it crashes more often than I like. 2) It's inherantly evil. I dispise Windows so much that on my site (still not done and needs uber work), I have placed a criticism quotes page for Windows. However, Windows XP has been getting very good reviews and from what I hear that is half of De Anza's computer network. I am willing to invest in it because it seems like a more stable operating system and because it shouldn't give me shit about a file I deleted on accident when it boots up.

5) Sibling. Emmy is starting to get on my nerves. She has a friend over. It's not that bad, because said friend is not her ex-girlfriend. This is a change for the better she's hanging out with the friend right now than with her ex. She hasn't quite learned volume control while she is inside, and that is very annoying because I try and get to sleep and she keeps talking or turning her music up too loud.

That's all my R&R for now.

On the other hand...

XP may make it a little harder to delete critical files, but not much. It will still have viruses, because it's designed to make it easy for Microsoft and other corporate scum to install software on your machine without telling you.

And a Mac can run most Linux apps without modification -- there's a program called fink that grabs a source package from Debian, compiles it, and installs it in one step. Plus the battery life is a lot better.

And, with Virtual PC, it can 90+% of all Windows Apps in a more stable environment than a PC has, since it emulates a perfectly set up PC.
