Mar. 29th, 2007 05:15 pmSelkit's got a sinus infection. He told me last night he was going to the doctor today, and he went to work instead. I would've dragged him to the doc myself if I was there....though being on the other side of the border doesn't allow me that luxury. Why he didn't go to the doctor today...I would rather he went to see the doc rather than go to work, but I'm not allowed to be concerned for him
like that, am I? I don't know if he's okay, I'm scared...I'm a few hundred miles away....*cries* I can only make stupid comics out of the selkit in a box photo, but even that doesn't grant me comfort. *cries into her paws*

Date: 2007-03-30 01:24 am (UTC)Sounds like Selkit has this "tough it through" ethic like some other people of your acquaintance. Well, hon, with folks like us, you just have to try to make allowances and deal with it, because concern isn't really going to make a difference.

Date: 2007-03-30 03:15 am (UTC)That said, he's from one of the most stubborn families on earth. I know, 'cause I had to put up with those boys growing up (and I'm twice as stubborn as them as a result). If he decides he's going to go to work, no sinus infection will stop him.
But it's nothing to worry about too much. They're annoying and gross, and if you don't get them treated within a reasonable time period (a few days) they can become chronic. If he goes to the doc in the next day or two it shouldn't be a big deal. I've had a few of them, so I know the drill pretty well.
He's stubborn, but he's also made of pretty strong stuff. Selkit has survived a lot of crazy things in his life, from meningitis to falling down the basement stairs and more. It'll take more than a sinus infection to put him out of commission.
Take a deep breath, okay? He really will be fine.
