Movie Day

So, I get home from school and we are watching boring things. I can deal with an episode of Antiques Roadshow and still be able to function. I can deal with watching many episodes of Cadfael and be able to function. What I can not handle is Emmy making a pest of herself about her homework and not listening when I explain it to her the first time. Gerf.

Then, for the 2nd half of the evening, [livejournal.com profile] flower_cat suggests that we watch Charlie & The Chocolate Factory with Johnny Depp. At first, this didn't seem like a bad idea, then I put it in and started listening to the ad for the sound track....it scared me. Suprisingly, the movie did not turn out to be as bad as I thought it would be...I just discovered some things about Wonka that weren't in the classic version with Gene Wilder. Can't say that it was completely horrible for the $9 Mom paid....it was scary. That's the word I'm going to use.

And I should go to sleep because I've got a final in the morning. Good night.

One more thing: my fencing final went okay today. I hate war games.

Go check out the book, it splits the difference between the 2 movies in strangness.

The stuff about Wonka's childhood & DDS Dad are not in the book.

I rather liked the johnny Depp version. BTW: the difference is in the titles- Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is the JD one (which is the actual title of the book), and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is the older one. The Gene Wilder version is more of a cleaned-up kids version, because the books Roald Dahl wrote, though for children, were really very disturbing and odd.

The real star of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is Deep Roy. I have a horrible fascination with the musical numbers, and keep playing them over and over. They're just my kind of sick.
