They sent me an email. They don't have a position for me. I'm depressed. Damn. No money. Frag.

I'm just a bit pissed.

Hey, they turned me down too. Remember my struggles to find a job? Keep plugging!

Actually at the time I applied to The Container Store I was getting around on the bus. The only reason I drive to work now is that it is impossible to get there on time with public transit. Going back to when we moved down here, I walked to Cost Plus and took the bus to my driving job at Atwood Dental. I'm hoping that when we finally open a North San Jose warehouse, Kiri and I can find a place close enough to it to allow me to ride my bike to work.

Let me knw when you get your learner's permit. I'd be happy to help you with road learning.

requires that you take 10,000 falls before you are a master. 9,999 and counting means that you're making progress.

Sorry to hear it, but it's not unusual. The trick is to keep at it -- put your resume in at a couple of dozen more places, and go back to the Container Store next quarter if they're still hiring. Also, you'll look like a better prospect if it's closer to the end of the school quarter and they don't have to care what shift they put you into.

Have you thought of doing temp work? It's not just office stuff anymore. I also suggest going to the unemployment office's website. They will have jobs that arent in the paper or online elsewhere. Try to email out 100 resume's a week. A friend of mine did that, and he got 30 interviews out of it. You may not be as skilled as he is, but the more you get your name and resume out there, the more likely you are to get hired.

Don't give up. Keep trying. I was turned down many times in the past.

Job searches are a simple but obnoxious algorithm.

IF NOT (JOB) THEN APPLY (LOTS OF JOBS)
IF GET INTERVIEW THEN (DO YOUR BEST)
REPEAT UNTIL (JOB)

Sorry, ducks.. Did the store state that your resume is on file. If not, wait a couple of months, then do it again. Closer to summer should work.
Hugs and quiches..

Took me some time too before I happened across my current internship
(which soon will be ending)

Indeed a car may help with the job piece...but it's not the sole reason...
Scout around accessible areas from various bus stops...
And there is the progression towards eventually driving albeit slowly if it must be....

Keep trying...you'll land something eventually.
And hey...it's something if they tell you kindly nothing was available.
Beats not hearing them at all and you wonder if they _might_ call you or whatnot >_
