No, I'm not dead. Yes, I realize I haven't posted in a while because I've been too busy looking for a frackin' job. If there's something about your life you truly want/need me to know, please call my cell or drop me an email.
Job hunt: This has sucked on more levels than I can count because I don't have a damn job. It makes me realize just how truly valuable money is, especially for things like Rent (no, not the musical) and such like. I hate not having a job. I have a 2nd interview w/ UPS in 3 hours. Hoping that goes well. More on that later, after it's happened. I'm hoping on going up to Canada this weekend to visit
selkit and will be saddened somewhat if he only comes by for a few hours and I have to stay here because I start work in the morning. I love him dearly, and the idea of not being able to keep him here is a bit discouraging. I will survive this. Damnit, I will survive it. It doesn't mean I will like it, but I will survive.
My first car! Pictures and specs to come later when I've gotten a bit more time to get over the "ZOMFGICANHAZMY1STCAR" factor. 1993 Volvo named BorkBox. 1150 before tabs, total = $1500. Handles well for the price paid, a few minor problems but then again, used car = not perfect. Implied as such. The insurance (which I now have) would like me to obtain my license in 30 days. I will try to do so, but am not making guarantees on this. We will see how much time I can devote to practicing and hopefully learning. I know: You're probably thinking Why does she have a car if she doesn't have a license yet? Seriously: Learning on L's full-sized `91 Manual transmission pickup = not my idea of fun since I can barely reach the clutch. The BorkBox has an automatic, and I can reach everything just fine. The hood release is a bit on the tricky side, and the spare tire wasn't where I was expecting it to be. The car is a justifiable learning expense, and I don't give a damn if you people think I am not ready to handle it. My last 5 driving lessons I've had since I moved have gone well, according to my 3 instructors I've been talking to. The idea is that I will learn to drive on my new Volvo, and take my driver's test in it so I don't need to make complicated arrangements with MD or DD to borrow their vehicles and thus wind up outstaying my welcome at someone's house or whatever. I understand I have a lot of learning to do, which is one reason of many why I bought the BorkBox. As I have said, I will be posting pictures and specs once I actually have enough time to do so. Jiffy Lube came up with an oil leak and transmission leak on the car, both of which doesn't surprise me much. Fairly minor, and L tells me he'll probably look @ the oil leak while I'm out of town this weekend (assuming I go) in order to try fixing the problem. The other thing that we're doing is taking it to a shop next week (a professional that does more than just change the oil) and seeing what else is wrong with it. I'm not surprised that it's got problems, but for only $1500 in total purchase costs, it's a sweet car. I promise, guys: this is so ZOMFG that there will be pictures. I just need you to be patient with me.
And now for something completely different: shameless plug of Chaos of Creation. I have a few things done that I'm trying to sell in order to put gas in BorkBox. This will help me pay for gas into the BorkBox so I can keep my learning machine fueled. My commission list has one piece on it that I am attempting to finish next week, and after that will be out of "work" again. If you want a price quote on something, get in touch with me.
