I'd like to think you've pursued these options, but it sounds from the below that you're implicitly choosing emo and angst in LJ over investing in a job search strategy that will actually lead to a real paying job.
If so, that's really a shame: it's a set of skills you'll rely on for the rest of your life, and it's something most of us have to learn at some point.
In boom times, it was super-easy to get an entry-level job in Silicon Valley without rock-solid job search skills. I don't think I need to point out that it's not 2006 in Silicon Valley anymore.
