Holy shit, Batman!
Jul. 4th, 2006 09:48 pmLiterally. Here's the sequence of events.
Phonecall #1) Emmy to front desk. Details of this call not known --- It was taking place somewhere else. (Anything I didn't here will be noted "Details not Known")
Phone conversation between
galtine1 and
jbriggs: "Hi. There's a waterfall over the consuite entrance. Please deal with it!"
Phone call immediately after between
galtine1 and front desk to Engineering: details not known.
Moment later: phone call between me and my sister: "Hi, the toilet is flooding the bathroom." It's not that major a crisis. I thought. I'll let engineering deal with it." "That's great, Emmy. Call maintenence. *click* Me to
galtine1: The toilet in our room above consuite has overflowed.
Phone call from
galtine1 to
jbriggs: details not known.
flower_cat says from the filk room "Levitation spell on!" and jumps up to fly somewhere. Me, confused as frag gets up in a rush and runs to catch up with her. "What gives?"
"The room is flooded!"
"Oh shit." I run to get my stuff, place it in the filk room, then run up the back stairs to my room.
------some time later------------
I walk into consuite & explain that the situation is under control, despite the fact that there is a trash can collecting water in front of their door. Then head down to the filk room with one of the other fanchildren who wished to hear the story. I recount to him as we walk. When we get there, me and Tim start writing songs about the disaster after I tell the story. The songs are still to come, as I don't have anything written down as of yet. More details about con to follow once life resumes a level of stability.

Date: 2006-07-05 04:23 pm (UTC)someone in con suite: "Ummm... there's water coming from the ceiling."
Me: (since I happened to be the ranking committee person in the room) [lept toward the door] "Oh no, not again."
I quickly moved the trash cans from inside the room to catch the water. I then saw a hotel person vacuuming down the hall and called out to him "Hello... there's a water leak here!" and he got on the radio. that's when I decided that the problem is stabilized... the leak is being caught by trash cnas and the hotel can deal with it from there on.
James Briggs showed up about a minute later, looked at the leak, and got on the phone.
Jim on phone: "Do you remember the waterfall at Condor (http://condorcon.org)? Yeah. In front of Con Suite. Bye."
---
It's been said that when something happens at two consecutive convnetions, it becomes a tradition. This is the second San Diego convention in a row to spring a leak onto convention space.
Sooo.... at Conjecture (http://conjecture.org) later this year, I suggest handing out umbrella caps. ;)
