Life is apparently not as mean to me as it was last night. It seems that I have finally been able to get ahold of Anarchy and the password to the GDI site, so I have made several modifications to the site that make it look more...inhabited. The true webmistress seems to have been locked off the computer for a time being, so I had to get the password in order to add to the site.
One of the links, the one that leads to Ryan De Santos's info page, was apparently not responding to Anarchy's machine when she tried to connect link to page. I seemed to make it work, and the rest of the information I don't seem to have e-mailed myself. As a direct result of this, I cannot work on the site except to correct what spelling errors and text things should be added.
The whole idea for this site was out of sheer boredom, and we didn't seem to have anything better to do. This turned into ideas, art drawn by Anarchy, and we both decided that soon these ideas had to become put into a website. The GDI was something I came up with off the top of my head 2 nights ago, but the team and the backstory had been in place long before that. Most of the characters were created at Westercon this year, and not all of the stories came as easily as the first 3.
Nothing seems to be quite as fullfilling as the feeling of satisfaction. Satisfaction in that your fledgeling idea that was supposed to be a one-shot game turned into an ongoing campaign, even if it does take place on the message boards of MSN. Backstories flooded through my mind the night of the game's creation. In some cases, the stories turned into an idea I created on the spur of the moment. In other cases, the ideas were much more developed, and somehow they evolved into a story that seemed like it was thought up on a whim but had more of a tale behind them.
