D&D is supposed to be fun, right?
Jul. 11th, 2003 10:47 pmYou know you're bored when a GM walks up to you with "plans" for a dungeon and says "Mind if I run a game?" You look at the GM with the intention of going "Sure, go ahead. I'll go build a character." You go off and build your character. GM approves it, taking no regard the fact that skill points are needed in order to build a character. gridlore true or false: A GM should have their monsters and the stuff that's on them planned out in advance? I mean...players aren't supposed to know more about the dungeon than the GM, right?
So no shit, there I was (clichet time)...sitting there with the gamer group: myself, Mayhem, Phil, Emmy, and Minion. We were waiting for Emmy to get to the point. She finally got us to the cave where we were supposed to retrieve the item from. Problem: she said that the dragon we were fighting (baby red dragon, min HP 59) only had 20 hit points. This meant: 1) she did not thuroughly plan her dungeon out, 2) she had no clue what the monsters' attacks were, 3) she didn't know what initive meant, and 4) she approved my character (9th level combat monkey Elf) without asking for legitimacy of the moves or the feats, not bothering to look at my skills. After the first 5 seconds, Phil asked if she needed some more time to work on the stupid dungeon. She said yes, then he offered to help her with the monsters. I made an offer to help her too, but she decided it would be more fun to sit there and watch me generate the monsters and their loot for her and do nothing about it herself. I know it sounds strange for me to make an offer to *help* the little beast. I did this thinking that she would do the rest of it herself. I wound up writing up half the monsters in her fricking dungeon! 6 dragons, 8 trolls, 10 orcs, and 5 goblins. One room left, several more monsters left to write up, and she's not going to be intelligent enough to RTFM to figure out how the stats are generated! Grrrrr. I'm probably going to remember this stuff for 2 weeks if she wants me to "help" her since she's too fucking incompetent to do it herself.
