Yay!!! I'm happy!
Jun. 3rd, 2003 10:14 pmI feel like I've done a good job! Let's flashback to winter 2001 of the 2001-2002 school year.
6th Period English class. Cold. Medium teprature in the room. Tired. 5 hours of school prior to this. Ms. Evans hands us an answer sheet and a test book for the Golden State Examination in English class. I didn't know what to do.
I took the test, then came to the essay prompt: If you could go back in time to meet any 1 historical figure, who would it be and why? I was bored, but at the same time: I'm a U.S. History buff. I knew almost everything about the Civil War. I wrote about General Robert E. Lee. What tactics did he use? How often did he train his men? How often did they sleep? Did most of them have prior experience in tactics? Were they well fed? Why did he underestimate the Union at Gettysburg? What were his mistakes he made from that point on that made the Union win the war? I chose him and wrote a very detailed set of questions.
Flash back to the future, June 3 2003. 6:30pm. We get a nice little slice or 2 of chocolate cake, some pink watermelon juice. I knew it was food, but wasn't expecting so little. Anyways, we went through a very long list of names. I was finally called, Kathryn Savitzky: Golden State Examination: Writing Composition with Honors. I couldn't believe my ears! I thought that was something from another test or that it was a mistake. Ms. Evans didn't mention that in the days after the GSE.........
flower_cat said "My mother would have been proud of you." I nodded, looked up at the sky and smiled. "I made it, Gramma. I made it!" I could feel her smile comming down on me, her eyes watching me with pride.....
