[livejournal.com profile] mdlbear is mad at me because of a $130 cell bill. I am definatly going to concider my own plan soon.......how much would it cost to deactivate my line from the family thing, I wonder? N/M, I don't think Dad will go for it.

Not that it matters anyway. Until I start the MMM scheme, I have no actual income.....so I can't really do things like pay the cell bill, do or repay my education fund that I have been using on other things....

Dad's gonna kill me......

I'm not mad at you, although Mom may have given that impression. I just told her to point it out. You can find the bill sitting in front of my computer if you want to look at it before I come home.

It would only cost $20 to drop you from the family plan. Re: the MLM scheme, I suggest you google quixtar and read the Wikipedia article and the economic analysis (which I'll find for you if you haven't found it by the time I get home).

I am not going to kill you, but we need to talk, and you're likely to find your yardwork payment tomorrow about half what it would have been.

I would suggest

. . . Metro PCS at $40 or so per month unlimited usage.

Quixtar...which support group?

Dear, I'm also in this (with GlobalNet). Not sure what focus the support group you would be joining encourages, but a lot of it is built on "personal consumption" of the higher end items that they make. And then "teaching others to do same".

There are little pieces that can be done as Biz2Biz sales (the gift catalogues being one), or in direct sales (eg: Artistry/NAO = MaryKay/Avon). The key being getting people to fall in love with the "consumable" so you get repeat business.

The other thing to watch out for is all the expense in training tools. I spent way more in attending seminars and buying books/tapes than I have ever made in "building the business." If you are going to do this seriously, you will be told that the training is very important and that it is like investing in yourself. Keep EXCELLENT records so that you can file a detailed tax return.

Good luck to you if you continue with this endeavor. I'm an inactive IBO who barely buys from herself.

Other tips to minimize mobile phone billable usage:

  • pay strict attention to "night and weekend" free calling times, and put this option on your phone if it is not there already
  • some carriers offer free "mobile to mobile" calling -- most mean only within subscribers to the same network; so notice which friends have the same mobile carrier if your plan has this option
  • watch out for long distance charges, many carriers will give you free nationwide long distance for as little as $5/mo if it is not on there already
  • audit your mobile phone bill, I have caught Cingular in several hundred dollars of errors over the two years I had them, and forced them to cough up
  • have friends use text messaging when appropriate, and use it more yourself
  • during the first minute of a call, determine whether you can go to landline or even IM at the moment, or schedule call-backs later
  • some carriers offer "first incoming minute free" as an option, or even "all incoming calls free" . . . this can be very helpful in determining whether a call is one you want to take, or passing a brief message

Don't feel bad. Learning these tips cost me several hundred bucks.

I think the Nicolais are with them as well.

Haven't heard any negatives beyond my experiences with expensive training tools (the audio tapes weekly were what killed my budget). The books have helped me in my personal and professional life, especially the Dale Carnegie ones.

Good luck.

Noted; unfortunately few of these options apply to the plan I have. It might be possible to get a different plan from Cingular, but so far I haven't seen one that's anywhere near the price, and there aren't any other carriers with anywhere near the coverage.

As it turns out (according to an analysis I read yesterday), most of the profits at the higher levels are made selling training materials to your downstream suckersIBOs, and very little on the products themselves. Buying stuff wholesale is a moderate win, but at that point you might as well go to Costco.

which is why I quit going to the support groups. If I was really into make-up or vitamins, I may have looked into doing the "party circuit" for those product lines.

As it is, I've become a Candle-Pimp (PartyLite) as the training is nearly free (time and gas; raffle tickets for product are a choice not a requirement) -- except for National Conference which prices out like Tech Conferences do ($300). There's a fair profit to be made, it is a consumable (candles) and repeat business. Sadly, there's no on-line shopping for your regular customers to just buy direct, but that might change over time. (my fingers are crossed as I have a steady regular group of 6 who buy about every 6 weeks.) And I can quit any time, as in my case I "bought in" rather than host the 6 shows in 2 weeks.

gyah o.o;;
That is pretty hefty...

But [livejournal.com profile] drewkitty already gave tips that I was gonna get to.
You may have noticed how I go around asking people who's their cell phone provider and all that...

And when you know precise details regarding your plan, you know when you can start making calls easily (ie when your evenings beginning...when your new phone cycle begins), mobile to mobile...stuff like that

I usually use cell phones for quick business-style conversations
Social ones I save until late afternoons/evenings once my free time kicks in. Only way I'll cheat that rule is if if it's mobile-to-mobile .

That's usually the main gist of it...
With my plan...unfortunately that isn't available anymore since AT&T got absorbed into Cingular...I can receive text messages free on my cell phone.
Now it's 10 cents in and out for Cingular (it was just sending that cost me..and I use AIM for that via "PaulNguyenCell")

^^;
Goodluck @_@
