Well, here we are in day 2 of Emmy's slumber party. Thank goddess she leaves for science camp on Tuesday (her birthday)! I now have an 11 year old sister to put up with, and I'm not enjoying it. I'm hideously outnumbered....there were 10 of them today and only 1 teenager. That was miserable. I swear, I will be so glad when I move out of my parents' house. [livejournal.com profile] flower_cat was making sure the children had stuff to do. [livejournal.com profile] mdlbear and myself went to Borders bookstore for about a half hour or so. I got The Time Machine on DVD and [livejournal.com profile] mdlbear got a few books. I didn't ask what they were, but he made the comment on the way back to the car that he got Atoms and I got Bits. I thought that science cracks weren't appropriate out of a science class, but he wondered what kind of s/f fan I was if I didn't appreciate science jokes. When I got home, the urge to dropkick the midgits had died down, because I was telling [livejournal.com profile] flower_cat about the DVD and being happy-go-lucky over it. Unfortunatly, I didn't know that 2 other people would be spending tonight. I was hoping it'd be a 1 night thing and that I could have some peace & quiet, but that's not the case because mom has authority and I don't. grr.

I hope you're not still planning to drop-kick them into the toilet -- I've had to unplug them three times this week as it is.

You just need to ask your parents to get you noise-reduction headphones (http://www.bose.com/noise_reduction/?pers_from=nr_home_img). A small problem, though, is that the combat pilot version isn't available to the general public, not to mention the fact that noise reduction works better on the low-frequency sounds instead of the high-frequency sounds (like your sister and her friends).

Or, for the cheap version, try some form of hearing protection (http://www.pro-am.com/Catalog/Exec/product.asp?product_id=939), which should work for all those whose hearing and sanity is endangered by loud noises or younger siblings. I should know, as I am a younger sibling.
